Effectiveness versus cost: How to choose the right insulating material for you home

About 85% of US homes use fiberglass materials to insulate, it is cost effective, about 0.4 $ per square feet, but what about heat effectiveness? That’s what really matter, sometimes it is better to pay a little more to get better results.
Nowadays there are so many options for materials that it gets hard to choose the right one, for example, besides fiberglass we can use spray foam that triple double the price but offers no leaking air, so it is way more effective.
One can think that it doesn’t really matter, any material can do the job but let’s value the benefits form using one or another.
While insulation fiberglass is easier to install, spray foam have to be applied for a professional. Talking about lifetime, fiberglass can last 10-25 year and spray foam could last up to 80 year. Fiberglass doesn’t offer any sound barrier and spray foam has better efficiency in that matter. The only thing that we have to consider about using spray foam, besides costs, is that has more risk of flammability.
Do the math, using fiberglass you will save a lot of money but is less effective against spray foam that triple the price but last long and has a superior efficiency.
If you have any trouble choosing what is right for your home insulation you better consult with professionals. In Diaz One Insulation e are at your service to help the best solution, fiberglass and spray foam aren’t the only materials for insulating you home!
